Podcast Episode 21: Show Notes!

Here’s the show notes for the Fiber & Fox Podcast Episode 21:

First off, we are coming up on the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE PODCAST! It has been so fun watching the channel and our little community grow since November of last year. I want to do something special for the occasion so keep your eyes out for an official announcement of how we will be celebrating! If I can figure out *how* I am hoping to do a LIVE on my YouTube channel November 8th…probably like 2pm EST, but I’ll announce the details once I sure them up over on the channel as well as on Instagram! Thanks for being part of my internet world!

DESIGNS:

Both the Anouk Pullover and Herringtone Marliday (cowl) are both in testing! Stay tuned for release date info!

I’m currently waiting on some custom fingering weight yarn from Megs and Co to arrive. I’m going to be making a wrap that incorporates MINIS. I know a lot of people either have a hoard of them and/or will be getting more through dyer’s advent calendars so I am hoping to have a couple mini skein focused designs coming out soon! I was playing around with stitch patterns for the design in some yarn I had on hand and decided I might add a bulky weight design with a similar vibe to the wrap. The stitch I settled on, by the way, is something modified from Dora Orenstein’s Crochet Everyway Stitch Dictionary. It is SUCH a valuable resource for crocheters, especially if you do design, or even hope to! Anyway… Keep your eyes on the insta for more info on designs I have in the works and upcoming tester calls!

FINISHEDish OBJECTS/WIPS:

Amigurumi Owl: Isn’t she CUTE? No pattern just a whole lot of winging it (all the puns, always). I used Fur the Moment yarn and just kinda…made an owlish thing. The wings and ear tufts are definitely not the same size as one another, but it adds quirk, right? Now I just need to sew her some feet and add some bows!

I’ve basically finished my Uglegenseren/Owl Sweater for my daughter! I just need to block and sew in all the ends. It definitely has some…quirks…as I am knew to colorwork, but overall I think it came out really cute! I think it actually adds to the charm that each of the owls is slightly different and kind of has its own personality! I think it will improve greatly with blocking too! I cannot wait to gift this to her for her birthday! And a tip for gifting makes to semi-oblivious but still astute toddlers? I am certain it will fit her as I have been making her try it on inside out. Getting a sweater is nothing new for her, but hopefully the owls will be a nice surprise!

I’ve already talked about these bunches in previous episodes so I won’t go on to long…but I finished the first of my Simple SKYP socks and I’ve got the second started. If you are looking for an easy, and FREE, sock pattern with a little bit of texture and ribbing, I highly recommend these. And it is no secret that I always recommend Laine and Lotus yarns- this colorways is Salted Carmel.

AQUIRINGS:

I stopped by my LYS Ewe and You (see tour here!) to pick up some yarn for a beanie for my husband for Christmas. He is very knit/crochet worthy, but basically would only wear hats anyway and is definitely *particular* about colors and yarn types. But I know he WILL wear it constantly, as he has worn his previous gifted beanies, all acrylic, to near-death. So I decided it was time to get him an upgrade (and also I want him looking tip top for our family Christmas photos, so…maybe a little selfish!). I will be making him another Bolton Beanie- which was my first ever crochet design, created especially for him- and slightly tweaking my worsted weight numbers to accommodate this DK weight yarn I found. I am excited to try this new-to-me blend of Polyester and Alpaca! Stay tuned!
