All the everything from Fiber & Fox Podcast Episode 27:

*note: Bella’s Custom Crochets is now FIBER & FOX!

ADMIN:

Firstly, I am wearing my Le Pouf sweater that I’ve been talking about in the last few episodes. I think I decided to keep it as is. But if I ever made another, I would definitely do less positive ease in the torso, or maybe add in some waist shaping. I am super obsessed with the colors though!

DESIGNS:

The Hope & A Future Wrap is just finishing up testing and is off to tech editing! I will hopefully have the pattern out by the end of February! For all things pattern release update, make sure you are following along on instagram, where I post all my tester calls, pattern progress, tester photos and release information! Being on my mailing list is a great idea too if you want to be first to know when a pattern goes live and possible coupon code info!

The Dandelion Drops Wall Hanging just went out to testers! That one will be coming later in march! I kinda wanna make one in every single weight of yarn with all the color combos. I am really excited about how versatile this pattern will be, with so much room for you to add your own creativity!

And it’s not much to look at yet, but my next neckwear design has been swatched up! More on that coming soon! Wanted to share a little tip: I like to coordinate my removeable light bulb stitch markers with the color Clover Amour crochet hook (currently on sale btw, affiliate links) when I swatch in multiple hook sizes. It makes really visually easy (besides taking thorough notes!) too look at the swatch after and like, okay, this bit was in this hook size! The colors don’t have to be an exact match, but here you can see I used an pink F, purple G and blue H hook and matched up similar markers when I switched sizes!

FOs:

I don’t do much on the custom order front these days, but a friend reached out wanting a special hat for her daughter. She’s 1 and has a trach (breathing tube)- they were having a hard time finding something that would cover up her ears in the chilly east coast weather, but didn’t have any poms/ties/tassels that would interfere with her trach. No pattern for this one, but I did implement a pretty braided puff stitch that I learned when I made our Christmas stockings. She also asked for a pair of matching mittens- when a pattern from LittleJohns Yarn popped up in my youtube feed last week I knew they’d be perfect!

I also never knit for anyone outside of my and my daughter, but another friend is in the process of adopting a baby boy and THAT merits a knit sweater. I’ve been eyeing the Caress Cardigan by Agasalhos e Bugalhos in my que for a while, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to make one! Real question now is do you think I am small enough to fit into a children’s 13-14 size- cause I want one! I love that cozy grandpa look that it has! And I am pretty impressed I didn’t mess up the short rows on the shawl collar.

WIPs:

Making progress on the Bonfire Socks- I think I will end up needing a second skein of 50gms to make this one happen, and it might get a little funky, but hey, they are just socks. Also I love this yarn (Paton’s Kroy FX “Clover Colors” and Paton’s Kroy “Flax”affiliate links) in this slightly ribbed pattern! Paton’s Kroy is also a super budget friendly yarn that holds up great if you’re just learning to knit socks and don’t want to splurge on indie dyed! You can find the Bonfire Socks pattern free on the Potter and Bloom blog!

AQURIINGS:

How incredible are these!? We know I love Fiber for the People. These are “Seagull” on her 2 ply 85/15 fingering weight base and “Leather” 100% Polworth fingering weight. I was trying out Seagull in a small quantity before I dive into a sweater’s quantity but I AM SOLD. Look at that grellow magic! Perfect.

I finally bought a new scale! I’ve been complaining about my inaccurate-with-small-quantities postal scale for…like a year…but was completely overwhelmed by options. Kitchen scale? Jewelry scale? Coffee scale? All seemed to have some pros and cons and there are zillions of them ranging all over the place on price. This Escali Digital Kitchen Scale one is super budget friendly at $24 (affiliate link) and came highly recommended on a lot of fiber arts blogs, so I finally took the plunge. I can’t give a review until I’ve used it for a bit, with varying types and amounts of yarn, but I’ll keep you posted! I’m hopeful! I am also going to have a “my favorite crochet and knit tools” video coming soon, so be on the look out for that!

That’s all folks! Thanks for hanging out with me and see you in Episode 28!
